Day 1: Fly From Arusha to the SerengetiYou will fly to the Serengeti National Park by light aircraft and on arrival at the airstrip; you will be met by your guide and driven to Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge. Set high on the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti, this Tanzania safari lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and style.

|
Maasai-inspired, two-storey thatched rondavel rooms with private balconies have been designed to blend completely into the living landscape. The rondavels are widely spaced throughout the grounds, which are cooled by groves of acacia trees and watered by papyrus-filled streams. On the very edge of the ridge is a ‘vanishing horizon' pool, which looks out over the ‘endless plains' after which the Serengeti is named.
Enjoy a late afternoon game drive and return to your Tanzania safari lodge in time for sun-downer cocktails served around the campfire, followed by a delicious dinner. |
Days 2 & 3: Explore the SerengetiEnjoy spectacular game drives around the stunning Serengeti ecosystem. Traditionally, game-drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon. Custom-built open-sided six-person safari vehicles offer comfort and panoramic viewing. Dedicated safari guides love to share their knowledge and understanding of the Serengeti and its inhabitants with you on each game drive.
The Serengeti is home to millions of large herbivores, as well as the accompanying carnivores and prolific birdlife. The Serengeti National Park is famous for its large lion population, many of which have been fitted with radio-transmitter collars so that their movements may be tracked, and additionally for its wealth of cheetah, zebra, giraffe, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, eland, impala, klipspringer, hippo and warthog. Hyena may be spotted wandering among the herds in the plain light of day.

|
To appreciate the wonders of the African bush, you have to experience a bush walk. Slow in pace and wide-ranging in scenery, the Serengeti nature walk is designed to offer gentle exercise and a fascinating insight into the world of African trees, flowers, insects, reptiles, birds and animals.
Tanzania offers more than 1,000 species of birds, half of which can be seen in the Serengeti. Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge offers a range of half or full day outings which can be tailored to the interests of your ornithological party. The services of a professional ornithologist and bird checklists are included, and meals – such as picnics, bush lunches and sundowners can be scheduled to suit your outing.

Take an optional balloon safari over the vast Serengeti plains, followed by a champagne breakfast at the bush-landing site. A balloon safari begins at 6 am and lasts for around 1-2 hours, during which you will likely see the magnificent wildlife below. Your pilot can control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. On landing you will celebrate with champagne before sitting down to a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in 'Out of Africa' style with bone china, linen table cloths, King's silver etc.
Each night relax around a blazing fire in the boma and discuss the adventures of the day before heading back to your luxury Tanzania safari lodge accommodation.
