Days 1 - 3: Sand Rivers Camp, Tanzania

Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam International Airport, you are transferred to the domestic terminal for your connecting charter flight to Selous Reserve. There you will be met by a representative of Sand Rivers Camp.

The Selous Game Reserve is located in the south-east part of Tanzania in a remote and rarely visited part of the country. The Selous Game Reserve is Africa's largest protected wildlife reserve and covers about 5% of Tanzania's total area.

This area is home to a vast number of wildlife, and is famous for its Wild Dog and some of the last Black Rhino left in the region. Selous Game Reserve remains one of the few untouched areas of Tanzania due to its remote location and accessibility only by small aircraft.

A striking feature of this game reserve is the Rufiji River Delta, which connects the Great Ruaha River not far from the park boundaries. The river empties out into the Indian Ocean along the Tanzania Coast. The Rufiji River is the largest water catchments location in the region and is home to a diverse range of species. Hippo sleep in the mud while Crocodile sun themselves on the riverbanks.

Because Selous is a game reserve and not a national park, more activities are permitted. Boating safaris are quite popular and affords the opportunity to view the diverse wildlife along the Rufiji River. Hiking safaris and fly camping are also unique and interesting ways of exploring the country.

Overnight is at Sand Rivers Camp on a full board basis, including game drives.

Days 4 and 5: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Tanzania

This morning you are transferred by light aircraft to the Manyatta airstrip for your transfer to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. This trip is about 1 and a half hours long.

The Ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as 'Africa's Eden' and the '8th Natural Wonder of the World'. A visit to the Crater is indeed a memorable and rewarding experience and highly recommended for your trip to Tanzania.

Large herds of Zebra and Wildebeest graze on the crater rim, Black Rhino searches for food in the crater forests and the tall Maasai, herd their cattle and goats over the green pastures through the highland slopes, while Lion lies basking in the sun.

Home to the famous Olduvai Gorge, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area offers huge expanses of highland plains, scrub bush and forests that cover approximately 8 300 square kilometres.

A protected area, only indigenous tribes such as the Maasai are allowed to live within its borders. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area offers some of the most beautiful features of Mother Nature and is steeped in history and brimming with wildlife.

Your night is spent at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge on a full board basis, including activities.

Page: 2 Days 6 - 9: Serengeti Safari Camp, Tanzania
After an early breakfast, you are transferred from Ngorongoro to the Serengeti. The Serengeti is definitely Tanzania's most famous National Park, and the largest at 14 763 square kilometres. Its stone kopjes are home to rich ecosystems. P ...
